General
The ZP7-IB-P isolator base protects Ziton addressable fire detection loops against short circuits, dividing the loop into monitored sections. Up to 11 isolators (base isolators or stand alone units) may be connected to each loop (on ZP2 or ZP3 panels), which together with the internal panel loop isolators situated at the beginning and end of the loop, enable each loop to be divided into a maximum of 12 monitored sections. When used with the ZP3 panel and when EN54 compliance is not a requirement, the number of isolators per loop may be increased to 16.
Just as with a standard base, the ZP7-IB-P allows the detector to be removed or replaced without disconnecting loop wiring from the detector. ZP7 detectors plug into the base unit with a simple twist and lock action, allowing quick and easy removal for cleaning and servicing, or changing of device type should the usage of the protected area change.
Loop Protection
The ZP7-IB-P is intended for use on Class-A, return loop wiring configurations. A single zone, or up to 20 (or 32 in some standards) detectors or devices, is located between each pair of isolators. In the event of a short circuit fault the isolators on either side of the fault disconnects the section of cable between them. Devices outside the disconnected section continue to operate normally. During open circuit fault conditions on the loop wiring, the control panel operates from both ends, running the line as two spurs and retaining full connection to all devices.
Meeting the recommendations for system monitoring in most local codes (e.g. BS5839-1), the ZP7-IB-P isolator base can be used together with the A60E stand alone isolator to provide the required protection.
