The mounting wall plate is designed to cover up existing holes or missing paint due to a previous doorbell that would not be covered by the footprint of the ADC-VDB770 itself. The mounting plate is wide enough to cover the width of a Skybell HD Wi-Fi Doorbell Camera so that any missing paint or screw holes will be covered.
